Sometimes an exhibition is memorable not just because of what was displayed, but because of how the whole space was designed.
The rooms, the lighting, the colours, the sounds, the pacing between sections, even the amount of empty space between objects — all of that can shape how the exhibition feels. When it is done well, the design does not distract from the material. It deepens it.
I always admire exhibitions that understand this balance. They use space to support the story rather than overwhelm it. You feel guided, but not pushed. The atmosphere helps you focus, reflect, and stay present with what you are seeing.
It can make a huge difference. The exact same objects in a less thoughtful setting might feel ordinary, while in the right exhibition design they suddenly feel vivid and meaningful.
