Which City Feels Best for Visiting Museums Without Rushing?

Some museum cities are exciting because they are full of famous institutions. But the best museum trip is not always the one where you see the most museums in the shortest time.

A really good museum city gives you time to enjoy the experience properly. You can visit one major museum, take a walk, have lunch nearby, explore a smaller collection later, and still feel like the day has a natural rhythm. The city itself becomes part of the museum visit.

For me, the ideal museum city is walkable, easy to navigate, and has a mix of large museums, smaller specialist collections, historic streets, good public transport, and places where you can pause between visits. It should not feel like you are just moving from one queue to another.

Some cities are perfect for a long cultural weekend because the museums are close enough to explore comfortably, but different enough that each visit feels fresh.

Which city would you recommend for a relaxed museum weekend where people can enjoy the museums without rushing from place to place?
