What makes a museum feel truly memorable to you?

I have been thinking about this, because two people can visit the exact same museum and come away remembering completely different things.

For one person, it is all about the objects. For someone else, it is the building, the atmosphere, the lighting, or even just one room that somehow makes them stop and feel something.

And sometimes a museum does not have to be huge or famous to be memorable. It just has to connect with you in the right way.

So I am curious — when you think back on the museum visits that have stayed with you, what is usually the thing that made the difference?

Was it the storytelling?

The emotional feeling of the place?

A certain artwork or object?

The way the museum was laid out?

Or maybe just the mood of the visit itself?

I would really like to hear what makes a museum stick in your mind long after you have left.
