Museum shops can be surprisingly useful at the end of a visit. After seeing the collection, books, prints, postcards, and replicas often make much more sense.
I like using the shop as a quiet final stop, especially if I want to remember a specific artist, exhibition, or object. Sometimes a small postcard or guidebook becomes a better souvenir than anything from a tourist shop.
It’s a nice way to end the museum experience slowly.
