Have You Ever Remembered a Museum by Its Smell?

0 replies0 likesJuly 11, 2026

It's a strange question, but every now and then I remember a museum because of its atmosphere rather than a specific object. The scent of old wood, historic books, polished floors, or even fresh air from an open courtyard can become part of the experience.

Those little details seem to stay in my memory just as much as the collections themselves.

Has a museum ever become memorable because of something as simple as its atmosphere or scent?
